About Me
-
I am originally from right here in Cheektowaga, NY, and I attended John F. Kennedy H.S. (Don't worry, I am all about Cleve Hill now!). I have a bachelors degree in physics from the University at Buffalo. While at UB I worked as a Resident Advisor in a freshmen residence hall for two and a half years, and I also managed event security for football, basketball and various other sports.
After completing my undergraduate work, I immediately went on to receive an advanced certificate in secondary education followed by my Masters degree in Physics Education, both from the University at Buffalo. During this time I had the opportunity to student teach at Amherst High School and Pioneer Middle School (Yorkshire, NY). After student teaching I returned to Pioneer Middle as a long-term substitute in eighth grade mathematics. It was in this position that I realized my passion to help this age group. For the next four years I taught at Immaculate Conception School in East Aurora, NY. My courses there included science 5, 6, 7 and 8, as well as mathematics 7 and 8. My goal then, as it is now, is to have every child that enters my classroom leave with a greater understanding of the importance of the sciences (because math is a science!), a firm grasp on STEM skills that are essential in high school and beyond, and an appreciation for how their knowledge can help them in any future they choose.
Outside of school, I have spent several seasons coaching travel hockey as well as modified and varsity hockey with the Cleve-Hill/JFK Highlanders program and Team Cheektowaga (all four districts combined). I currently coach the Boys Modified Basketball team here at Cleve Hill!My personal interests include reading, playing hockey, and watching any and all Buffalo sports teams. I am lucky enough to have been married to my best friend since July, 2015. We have two children, Grace and Jack!I look forward to working with your children. Please contact me with any and all questions or concerns!
