How many UPK slots are available in the 2023 - 2024 school year?
The Cleveland Hill Union Free School District is due to receive funding for approximately 31 students for the half-day program and 18 in district students for the full day program and 13 students in a Community Based Organization (CBO). All funding is dependent upon the New York State budget.
Who is eligible?
Eligible children are defined as those who live in the Cleveland Hill Union Free School District and will be four years old by December 1, 2023.
What if more than 60 students apply?
If more requests for acceptance are made than can be placed, a lottery will be used to choose children for inclusion in the program. All other children will be placed on a waiting list.
At what times are the classes held?
The Morning Session is from 8:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. and the Afternoon Session is from 12:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. The Full Day Session is from 9:15 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.
Do I have a choice between the Morning, Afternoon or Full Day Session?
Upon completion and delivery of the registration packet to the district registrar, preferences will be honored on a first come basis.
What if I have twins or triplets?
A separate application must be made for each child.
Is transportation provided?
No.
Is there a cost associated if my child is selected to participate?
No. Participation in the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program is free of cost to parents/guardians for families of children who are selected.
How many children are in a class?
UPK regulations require one certified teacher and one classroom aide for up to eighteen children.
Is there a report card?
Yes. A standard progress report is used to inform parents of student progress.
Although my child is age appropriate to attend Kindergarten, I am not sending my child this year. Are they eligible to participate in the UPK program?
No. The Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) is a four-year old program.

Registration for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten will be the same process as registration in the district.
