Welcome to 7th grade English Language Arts!

This year we will continue to hone the reading and writing skills necessary for success in 8^th grade, high school, and beyond. With that in mind, our reading selections and writing assignments have been developed to prepare each student to be proficient readers and writers, while also asking students to consider and write about content outside of the ELA classroom. With consistent practice and guidance, students will continue to make great strides in communicating and expressing ideas through writing and speaking. Daily practice in grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and paragraphing will allow every student to excel in writing, while listening and speaking for information and understanding will also be major components of every class. Together and independently students will be asked to read narrative and expository texts, make inferences and conclusions, and provide evidence for their claims. All students are asked to review the procedures, rules, and consequences found in the syllabus to ensure a safe, fun, and successful year in ELA
