Today the CHMS Youth and Government club, led by Betty Haynes and Jay Menzie, presented at the Erie County Legislature. Jax Keidel gave a speech and explained the historical significance of the events of the Cleveland Hill fire.
The legislature has now declared that March 31 will be recognized as the Cleveland Hill School Fire Memorial Day in honor of the lives that were lost that day and as an acknowledgment of the impact of the event on the improvement of fire safety in public schools across the country.
