"Away for the Day"

On this page you will find information on the Internet Enabled Device Policy, at the Cleveland Hill UFSD, for the 2025-2026 School Year.

Background

On May 6, 2025 Governor Kathy Hochul announced New York will become the largest state in the nation to require statewide, bell-to-bell restrictions on smartphone and other “smart devices” in K-12 schools.  This requirement is part of the FY 2026 Budget of New York State, and requires schools to have a distraction free policy in effect for the 2025-2026 school year.

Community Feedback and Input

The Cleveland Hill UFSD has engaged our school community around these changes since Winter of 2025. Various stakeholders voiced their thoughts at Shared Decision Making meetings, a district wide survey was distributed in the Spring of 2025, and other school gatherings.

We will continue to engage our community by holding a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at 6pm. Further information will be sent to parents by Mr. David Evans, Superintendent of Schools. Please complete this form if you plan to attend the Town Hall meeting.
